Well…almost. Post-pandemic and the island of Maui felt like our very own private island!

Top 5 Things to Do, See, and Eat in Maui
One of my favorite Hawaiian islands is hands down, Maui!
Maui is the tropical paradise of Hawaii, is a dream destination for many travelers. With its stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and vibrant culture, this island offers an abundance of outdoor activities and experiences that will leave you enchanted. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, Maui has something for everyone. Here are my top 5 things to do, see, and eat while in Maui:
- An absolute MUST – The Road to Hana:
Embark on an unforgettable journey along the famous Road to Hana. This scenic drive takes you through lush rainforests with breathtaking waterfalls cascading down cliffsides. With so many photo opportunities, you will want to hop in and out of the car so be sure to leave early! Definitely stop at Wai’anapanapa State Park for its black sand beach and explore Ohe’o Gulch (also known as Seven Sacred Pools) in Haleakala National Park. - Witness Sunrise at Haleakala National Park:
Set your alarm early and head up to Haleakala National Park for a mesmerizing sunrise experience above the clouds. As dawn breaks over this dormant volcano’s summit crater at 10,000 feet above sea level, you’ll be treated to a panoramic view that is truly awe-inspiring. - Relax on Ka’anapali Beach:
Indulge in some well-deserved relaxation on one of Maui’s most beautiful beaches – Ka’anapali Beach. With its golden sands stretching along the west coast of Maui and crystal-clear turquoise waters perfect for swimming or snorkeling among tropical fish and sea turtles β it’s pure bliss. - Immerse Yourself in Hawaiian Culture at Lahaina:
Visit Lahaina town on Maui’s west coast β a historic whaling village turned vibrant cultural hub filled with art galleries, shops selling local crafts & souvenirs as well as excellent restaurants serving delicious seafood dishes like poke bowls or fresh mahi-mahi. Don’t miss the chance to attend a traditional luau and experience the captivating hula dance. - Savor Local Delicacies:
Maui’s culinary scene is a fusion of flavors from around the world, with a strong emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. This adventure has been renamed, in our books, “Eat to Hana” because every stop had local restaurants and cafes on the way. Indulge in mouthwatering dishes like kalua pork (slow-roasted in an underground oven), poke (marinated raw fish salad), and famous banana bread. Try not to fill up too quickly because you will need to save room for Maui’s farmers’ markets where you can sample tropical fruits like fresh pineapple, coconut and papaya.
WHERE TO STAY
Because we enjoy the outdoors, we opted to stay away from city life and opted for nature – we stayed on the Northwest side of the island, in the town of Ka’anapali, where we experienced beautiful sunny weather in the mornings and tropical rain showers in the afternoons.
- The Westin, Maui Ka’anapali – resort-like experience
- Paia Inn – economical, experience the island like a local
- The Ritz Carlton, Maui – 5 star resort with privacy and set away from hustle and bustle
Maui is a paradise that offers endless possibilities for exploration and relaxation. From driving along the scenic Road to Hana to witnessing breathtaking sunrises at Haleakala National Park, this island will captivate your heart. Immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture at Lahaina town and savor the delicious local delicacies that Maui has to offer. So pack your bags, put on your aloha spirit, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure on this enchanting island!
